Music November 2015October 29, 2018
New Instrument of the month, The GuitarOctober 29, 2018
I am the new Music specialist. I was been born and raised in Calgary and I am a registered piano teacher with ARMTA. I have been running my own piano studio for the last 38 years. My background is working with special needs and I’ve taught both children and adults.
I am also a busy mother of two fantastic children named Sarah and David. My daughter is currently enrolled in an art program and my son is in a lot of physical sports. Family is very important to me and I am excited to say that my mother and father are still living in Calgary.
I have a very diverse background and it has been said that I am a recreational person that uses my music with memory care. I also am a firm believer that seniors need children and children need seniors, hence why I volunteer my studio class to perform for various homes. In order to have more interaction with children, I’ve also created a sky program. I am a lover of animals with a leonberger as my furry companion. I enjoy the out doors so much that I spend my free time hiking, camping, fishing and exploring the gem stones of Alberta’s small towns. As a former school bus driver I thoroughly enjoyed spending time among children with special needs.
I hope to gain more experience throughout the campus year and I look forward to teaching my passion to all the wonderful students here at MCHA.
Music is gift that fuels the soul. The month of October we are working on the notation of the note baby middle C ,the sound of Doe,The Keyboard Family and the composer of Bach.Through Creative movement, ear training ,and coordination The child will be able to understand the concepts. I am using a color scheme to help with the instruments and using a direct approach. We are starting with the instrument the Glockenspiel. For furture months we will be adding te sound of Doe to the recorder.
